Slim Down Now With These Foods Already In Your Pantry

Registered dietician Cynthia Sass knows a thing or two about nutrient-dense, slimming foods. As the sports nutrition consultant for the New York Yankees and author of Slim Down Now, Sass has discovered easy, affordable ways to fit extra fiber and protein into her clients’ diets. Highest on her list are pulses – a category of food that includes lentils, peas, and many varieties of beans. Pulses are gluten-free, readily available, plant-based, and incredibly nutrient-rich. They’re also filled with vitamins and minerals, and can curb hunger and aid in weight loss. Popular in Europe, Latin America, and India, pulses can be blended into a soup or dip (hummus, anyone?), added to salads, or even snuck into brownies and mousse.
