Winter is notorious for drying out our skin. The cold air quickly sucks the moisture right out, creating a flakey, itchy epidermis that we then slather with lotion and healing salve, hoping for some semblance of relief. Although chapped skin is obviously uncomfortable, there’s one sensitive spot that’s affected just as much, and sometimes even more: our lips.

Lips can sorely crack and peel if left untreated during the bitter winter months, and sometimes a swipe of lip balm just isn’t going to cut it. Thankfully, this painful experience can be easily remedied with just a few ingredients you probably already have in your house. Here, we give you the easiest DIY lip balms and scrubs so you can create a smooth pucker in no time at all.
