We all have those little quirks or neuroses, things that bother us for really no reason at all.

Let's be clear: These aren’t quirks that are life-disrupting to a point where they could be considered a sign of the diagnosable mental condition obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Rather, they are things we have conditioned ourselves to do or be annoyed by. They "likely developed by our own experiences and environment, and can be controlled,” Annabella Hagen, LCSW, RPT-S, the clinical director of the Utah Therapy for Anxiety Disorders, tells Yahoo Health. These are behaviors we engage in voluntarily — unlike OCD, where fear or anxiety is the driving force for the action.
