Memorial Day weather: Rain along the East Coast and scorching heat in the Gulf
Severe weather is expected on Memorial Day to move into the East Coast’s I-95 corridor, bringing with it damaging winds, hail and maybe even a few tornadoes. Sunday was the most active severe weather day so far this year with at least 576 severe storm reports. There were at least 72 reported tornadoes since Friday in 12 states: Wisconsin, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, North Dakota and North Carolina.

Forty-five people were killed and 249 were injured in an IDF strike on Rafah on Sunday, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said Monday. Action Aid UK had on Sunday placed the death toll higher, saying at least 50 people were killed.

As tornado season ramps up, more people are turning to private home shelters to survive
When a powerful EF-4 tornado ripped through Greenfield, Iowa, last week, TJ Oder, the chief of the town's volunteer fire department, said his house took a direct hit. Oder said that when the twister struck, he was helping to prepare a triage center to treat injured neighbors and get them to hospitals while his family members were hunkered down in his personal shelter. At least four people were killed and 35 were injured in the Greenfield twister, but throughout the area, many lives were saved due to people being close to a public shelter as the twister bore down or having one like Oder just steps away in their own home, officials said.

Sherman, Richard is remembered as a "prolific composer-lyricist" and a "key member of Walt Disney's inner circle of creative talents," the company said in a press release. Multiple people killed, dozens injured in Russian airstrike on Ukraine shopping center
Russian forces struck a Ukrainian shopping center in Kharkiv on Saturday, leaving four people dead and 38 people wounded according to local officials. Oleh Synyehubov, the Kharkiv governor, said on Ukrainian television that they have so far identified 16 people as officially missing. Synyehubov also said there was a second strike in Kharkiv that injured 12 people, including a 13-year-old boy.

Severe weather onslaught continues as big storms threaten holiday travel
There is a major severe weather threat in the Plains on Saturday with more than 8 million people across seven states facing the possibility for dangerous weather. A Moderate Risk (Level 4 out of 5) is in the outlook for parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri as the Storm Prediction Center warns of a few long-lived supercells capable of intense tornadoes that may occur with giant hail and destructive wind gusts expected. Storms are expected to flare up during the late afternoon and continue into the evening hours on Saturday and those on the road for Memorial Day weekend are urged to pay attention to severe weather warnings.

"The Government moves to modify defendant Donald J. Trump’s conditions of release, to make clear that he may not make statements that pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case," the filings from Smith said.

Families of five Marines killed in a June 2022 Osprey crash in southern California have filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit, blaming companies that make the aircraft for the tragedy. The lawsuit, filed this week, names Boeing, Rolls Royce and Bell Textron, which are each involved in producing the "tiltrotor" V-22 Osprey, capable of both taking off vertically like a helicopter and flying like an airplane -- by changing the angle of its propellers. The investigation found the mishap was due to an "unpreventable" mechanical failure, and not any error on the part of pilots, crew, or maintenance personnel.

Families of the Uvalde victims have filed a lawsuit against Daniel Defense, the makers of the AR-15 assault rifle, and Activision, the publisher of the first-person shooter video game series "Call of Duty," and Meta, the parent company of Instagram, over what they claim was their role in promoting the gun used in the shooting. Salvador Ramos -- the 18-year-old shooter who killed 19 students and two teachers and wounded 17 others -- purchased the DDM4V7 rifle a week before the shooting, months after he began playing a version of the game and made several Instagram posts about weapons, Josh Koskoff, the attorney representing the families, alleged. Daniel Defense, Activision and Meta did not immediately comment to ABC News on the lawsuit.
