Watch Anthony Bourdain Serve Tripe to Self-Described Picky Eater Anderson Cooper

CNN’s Anderson Cooper is a notoriously picky eater, but chef/author/tv host Anthony Bourdain got the journalist to taste tripe, or the stomach lining of a cow, on camera.

The two CNN personalities gathered in the kitchen of Bourdain’s old stomping grounds, New York French eatery Les Halles, to film a segment for Cooper’s CNN news show, “Anderson Cooper 360,” that promotes the new season of Bourdain’s CNN food and travel program, “Parts Unknown.”

A hesitant Cooper examines the funky smelling delicacy, which, according to both men, has the odor of wet dog. “There’s plenty of stuff on a cow to eat, why do you need to eat the stomach lining?” Cooper asks.

“Because you gotta work hard for the good stuff,” Bourdain explains.

Bourdain serves up several exotic dishes for the culinarily reserved Cooper during the “360″ segment, including escargot, pig’s feet and blood sausage.

Cooper, the newshound son of socialite Gloria Vanderbilt, blames his boring diet on his upbringing. “I was raised in a Wasp household, so the only food we had was Carr’s water biscuits and aquavit,” he told VanityFair.com. Cooper also admits to eating the same menu daily — oatmeal for breakfast, a salad for lunch and salmon sushi for dinner. Good thing the globetrotting reporter is more adventurous about the news he covers.
