Watch a Food Pro Critique Fast-Food Burger Presentation

Anyone who’s stepped into a fast food restaurant knows what you are served on that plastic tray looks nothing like what you see in TV commercials and print ads.

To prove this point, BuzzFeed asked food stylist Anna Lee to evaluate how closely Arby’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, and others fast food chains come to selling picture-perfect version of their sandwiches.

How do they stack up? Not well.

While Lee, a food stylist for five years, says the McDonald’s, Big Mac, and Chick-Fil-A’s fried chicken sandwich looks close to their advertisement photos, the Arby’s roast beef sandwich packs too little beef on too big of a bun.

“You see no roast beef, you just see bun,” she commented.

The Burger King Whopper also left Lee disappointed: “This one looks like it got into a car crash.” And Lee felt betrayed after the burger joint used green leaf lettuce on its advertisement burger, but iceberg lettuce for the real-life version.

“Iceberg lettuce looks like [bleep] on camera,” she advised.

Looks can be deceiving, said Lee. But it’s fast food. “Just shut up and eat it.”
