What are your plans for the holidays?
My partner, David, my daughter, Julia, and I will spend a quiet Christmas Eve at our home in Southampton, New York. We’ll have Christmas dinner with neighbors in Southampton, and we’ll celebrate New Year’s with friends in San Francisco.

What will be on your holiday dinner table this year?
Beef rib roast with rosemary oil; lefse, a traditional Norwegian potato flat bread that my family has made on Christmas eve for generations; and kransekake, a traditional Scandinavian 16-layer almond cake.
