How to Remix a Classic Party Shot Into a Sophisticated Cocktail

There’s a reason lots of folks choose a SoCo & Lime as their first shot when they turn 21: Southern Comfort may be strong, but it’s got enough sweetness and fruitiness that it’s palatable. In fact, cut with some citrus it’s actually pretty delicious! So of course we decided to turn it into a cocktail. It’s all the fun of a special-occasion shot, in a respectably sippable form. Bottoms up!

SoCo Limeade
Serves 1
Prep time: 5 minutes

1 ½ oz spiced whiskey liqueur (like Southern Comfort)
1 ½ oz fresh lime juice
1 oz simple syrup (more to taste)
1 oz water
½ c crushed ice
limes, to garnish

Combine the whiskey liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup and water in a shaker, and shake vigorously for 5 seconds to combine. Add the ice, and shake vigorously for 30 seconds, until the shaker is frosty. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with lime.
