Add schnapps and black food coloring to an ice filled shaker. Shake and strain into a chilled glass.

Add vodka and apple cider to an ice-filled shaker. Shake and slowly strain into the same glass as the schnapps. Make sure to pour very slowly to allow a gradient effect. Garnish with a skewered candied apple.

Candied Apple
12 lady apples (or other small variety)
Long wooden skewers
1 cup white sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¾ cup water
Red food coloring

Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Insert skewers into the bottom of apples.

In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat to 300°F to 310°F (149 to 154°C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads, 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring, drop by drop until desired colored is achieved.

Holding apple by its stick, dip in syrup then remove and turn to coat evenly. Place on prepared sheets to harden. Once cooled, removed sticks.
