Lela Rose Loves Fashion and Food Equally (for Reals)

Womenswear designer Lela Rose told InStyle that her fall 2014 collection, which she showed at New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week yesterday, was inspired by a meal at famed Spanish restaurant el Bulli. Chef Ferran Adrià’s mecca of molecular gastronomy sadly no longer exists, but the meal has clearly stayed with Rose.

Guests of her show received recipe books pairing dishes with looks from the fall collection. We couldn’t get our hands on one, so we’ve made our own pairings below. See the connections? CAN YOU SEE THEM? We can.

It makes sense that Rose would be so entranced by a meal. She’s a famous entertainer: she hosted a dinner at her Tribeca home to honor Adrià himself, where other superstar chefs such as Mario Batali, Thomas Keller, Dan Barber, Daniel Boulud, and Dominique Ansel were in attendance; she got ABC Kitchen chef Dan Kluger to cook brunch for family and friends at her home upstate; and she’s generally all about southern hospitality (meaning she loves her some bourbon, too). Oh, to be Lela Rose.
