Kraft Recalls 36,000 Cases of Cheese Due to Choking Risk

Kraft is recalling 36,000 cases of American cheese slices because of complaints that faulty wrappers are choking hazards.
On some products, there’s a chance that a thin strip of the individual packaging film remains on the cheese after the rest of the wrapper has been removed, potentially causing people to choke, Kraft said in a statement.

There have been 10 complaints and three reports of choking.
The recall affects three and four-pound sizes of Kraft Singles American and White American that have a Best When Used By Date of Dec. 29, 2015, through January 4, 2016 with manufacturing codes S54 or S55.

The recalled cheese was only sold in the United States, Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman. Consumers who purchased this product should return it for a full refund, or contact Heinz Customer relations at 1-800-432-3101.
“We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed,” Kraft said.
The food producer had to recall nearly 250,000 cases of its popular Macaroni & Cheese product in March after metal fragments were found in some packages.
