John Legend and John Besh Face off in Fried Chicken Challenge
When it comes to fried chicken, New Orleans-based chef John Besh and singer John Legend are not clucking around.
The two faced off in a fried chicken showdown on Fab Life, with Legend’s wife, the model Chrissy Teigan, moderating the battle.
Besh used his grandmother Grace’s recipe, which is marinated overnight, double battered, and cooked in cast iron skillet with a lid on it to achieve a pressure-cooker effect.

Legend cooked up his “Legendary” recipe, using a deep fryer that wife Chrissy Teigen bought him one year for Christmas.
“I think the fryer cooks it more evenly and the color comes out a little better,” Legend says.

To keep it spicy, Legend promised that if he lost, he’d sing a song to Besh’s wife. If Legend won, Besh agreed to put Legend’s chicken on a menu of one of Besh’s restaurant for a year.
