Gordon Ramsay’s Trick for Getting Kids Into the Kitchen

“MasterChef Junior” co-host Gordon Ramsay admits he wasn’t much of a culinary wizard when he was young. “The kids [on the show] always ask me how good I was at cooking when I was their age,” he says. “The truth is, when I was 8, I couldn’t cook if my life depended on it! My mum threatening to whack me with a wooden spoon was the closest I ever got to the kitchen!”

But the acclaimed chef and television star wants better for the next generation, and one way to lure kids into the kitchen is with fun gadgets. If budding foodies are on your gift giving list this holiday season, Ramsay has picked out 10 colorful whisks, spatulas, and bowls that will lure young people into the kitchen. “Remember when you gave your kids their first set of markers or crayons? All they needed was a piece of paper, and they were inspired to create their own work of art,” said Ramsay. “Same goes for the kitchen! You hand your kid a happy face spatula and colorful mixing bowl, and I promise you they will be raring to go!”

“MasterChef Junior” season 4 premieres Friday, Nov. 6, at 8 P.M. on Fox.
