Forget Double Stuf — Oreos Making ‘Thin’ Version

Many Oreo devotees swear by the "Double Stuf" version. They want more frosting, more cookie, more Oreo.

But, as summer months bring about concerns about maintaining a beach-ready body, some might be shunning their favorite sandwiched cookies for fear of overindulging. That’s where the brand-new Oreo Thins come in.

According to an Oreo spokesperson, the new cookie will be 7.5mm thick, compared to the original cookie, which boasts a 12.5mm thickness. However, the circumference and creme-to-cookie ration will be about the same as a regular Oreo, as to not throw off the balance you’ve come to know and love.

Though it’s not being marketed as a “diet” Oreo, the new, thinner cookies will only set you back 140 calories for 4 cookies, compared to the original, which contains 160 calories in 3 cookies.

So, if you’re like us and tend to eat 6… or 8… or 10 in a single sitting, these will definitely be a new grocery godsend.

Kids won’t have much fun with the new treat — they aren’t designed to be twisted open or dunked, Oreos told the AP.

“If people want to do that, it’s clearly up to them,” said Janda Lukin, senior director of Oreo for North America at parent company Mondelez International.
