Catch Vivian Howard In the New Season of ‘A Chef’s Life’

Squash is very much like a blank canvas. You can cook it to mush, you can keep it firm, you can sweeten it,” Chef Vivian Howard says in the promo for A Chef’s Life season 3, welcoming audiences in with her warm Southern drawl. This warmth is part of the reason Howard has built a big fan base, along with her authenticity and passion for updated Southern classics.

Her PBS documentary series, A Chef’s Life, follows Howard as she navigates life in her hometown of Kinston, North Carolina — raising twins, visiting family, and running two restaurants with her husband. The popular Peabody Award-winning series also documents Howard’s successes, setbacks, and newfound “awkward celebrity” status. In the season 3 premiere episode, titled “Stop, Squash and Roll,” Howard is joined by her mom and sister as she prepares for an appearance on The Today Show and prepares a squash and onion recipe.

A Chef’s Life officially premieres on most PBS stations September 6th, but check your local PBS listings to find out when A Chef’s Life airs in your area.
