Cake of the Day: Orange Almond Cake

As we enter March, all we can think about how much closer we are to spring. Today’s cake by Oregon-based photographer Eva Kosmas Flores embodies the season: it’s bright, natural-looking, and lush with greenery. We’ve featured Flores’s cakes, which she shares on her blog called Adventures in Cooking, before. Remember this Salted Caramel Rose beauty?

For the one pictured above, Flores bakes three layers of almond- and citrus-flavored cake and layers each with orange blossom-infused buttercream. She leaves the sides and top unfrosted and, instead, sprinkles them with sliced almonds, a dusting of powdered sugar, and edible flowers. It’s just so…spring-y.

Speaking of spring, you can learn to shoot beautiful photo just like Flores; her next workshop takes place this April.
