Kiss me (I’m Irish) or at least I’m pretending to be one so I can snag a smooch, like this cake from Studio DIY. Founder and editor, Kelly Mindel, is behind the Los Angeles do-it-yourself blog that features crafts and party ideas celebrating the every day. It’s a a one stop shop for weddings, birthdays, and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day. From mani pedi ideas, charmin’ ways to decorate donuts, and pot of gold balloon party favors, the DIY queen has got you covered for your next party.

This brings us to her cake, which looks as though someone has kissed the living daylights out of it. But don’t be fooled! The lip marks you see is not actual lipstick but edible pearl dust. Mindel starts with card stock and creates her own stencil by tracing out lips and cutting them out with an X-Acto knife. She takes a chilled white frosted cake and lays the stencil on top. Using a dry clean small paint brush, she dips it in pearl dust and fills in the stencil. She carefully works her way around the cake with various colors and thickness of dust and voilà! A festive cake that gets you in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit. For the step-by-step tutorial head to Studio DIY.
