Cake of the Day: Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer Cake with Cookie Dough Filling

Cookie lovers, this cake is for you! If you enjoy eating warm, freshly baked cookies or just love eating cookie dough straight from the bowl, this cake has it all. Lorie Roach, of the food blog Mississippi Kitchen, is a photographer who is all about dishes, not drama. Roach says the kitchen is her drama-free zone where she loves cooking and sharing original recipes for her husband, daughter, son-in-law and five-year-old grandson in Southeast Mississippi.
Now to the cake! Roach bakes giant chocolate chip cookies in a cake pan to create her layers and fills them with raw cookie dough. She makes a caramel frosting and quickly ices the top so the side drips. Lastly, she dollops brown sugar butter cream and places tiny cookies in each center. Now that’s one smart cookie!
