Breakfast in Bed Recipes for Valentine's Day

Your loved one is sleeping in this Valentine's Day, which means you have time to tiptoe down to the kitchen and assemble breakfast in bed.

You’re the best, you know that?

If you want the food you make to match your own goodness, there are some things to keep in mind. First, presentation is important—that’s part of the fun of this whole thing, right?—but you don't need a silver platter. Any tray will do, just cover it in a handsome tea towel to anchor the plates and utensils. (You’re spending time on this, you don’t want your finished spread to move around on the walk upstairs.) Next, consider the right recipes; some foods travel better than others. We recommend skipping the pancakes, porridges, and poached eggs in favor of sturdier waffles, baked goods, or fried eggs. If there is syrup or dressing involved, keep it on the side, in a nice little jar, to prevent the main event from getting soggy. To keep things warm as you travel without creating condensation (and to create a fun reveal factor), loosely cover the top of your dish with another tea towel. And finally, do add a garnish: a flower from the garden, a sprig of rosemary—anything fresh and green you have will add that special touch.
