A Taste of New Orleans

All this week, Yahoo Food celebrated the resiliency and vibrancy of the New Orleans food world, as experienced by a range of residents, from natives to newcomers. NOLA’s most prominent chef, Emeril Lagasse, talked about how the scene is stronger and more varied than ever. Nine popular Instagrammers based in New Orleans showed us their photogenic take on the food life there. Cult blogger Joy the Baker explained why she left Los Angeles behind and started anew in New Orleans. Then there’s L. Kasimu Harris, photographer, writer, native New Orleanian. He shared his sometimes complicated feelings about the constantly evolving cuisine of his hometown, plus a list of his favorite places to eat.

Harris’s photography is currently in several exhibitions in the city. His “The 10-Year Journey: Reflections of Family, Identity and New Orleans” solo show will be on display at the George & Leah McKenna Museum in New Orleans through Oct. 10th. He also contributed work to two group exhibitions, “The Rising” and “Louisiana Contemporary,” at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.

In the slideshow above, Harris shares some of his work with Yahoo Food to help us close out our week of New Orleans coverage.
