Buzzfeed has found eight of the world’s most perilous foods that can be toxic if they are prepared incorrectly, or you simply eat too much of them.

Some of the foods look scary, like blood clams which can cause flu-like symptoms when eaten raw, and even carry Hepatitis A.

Fugu, which is a puffer fish that is considered a delicacy in Japan, must be prepared by a chef with years of training. If not, you risk ingesting a poison found in the liver, intestines and ovaries that’s 1,000 times more deadly than cyanide.

Other culprits are more mundane. Nutmeg, a spice found in lots of foods around the holidays, can cause a host of digestive illnesses if you consume too much. So, keep that in mind before that second (or 17th) glass of egg nog.
