Timnath Beerwerks plans to purchase Fort Collins brewery

Timnath Beerwerks has reached an agreement to purchase Snowbank Brewing, owners of the two local breweries said in an email Thursday.

The acquisition of Snowbank Brewing, 225 N. Lemay Ave., will allow Timnath Beerwerks to increase its production capacity to meet growing demand and streamline operations for both brands, the owners said in a joint announcement.

The agreement is expected to be finalized this summer, pending license transfer, and involves acquisition of the Snowbank Brewing brand and all other assets.

“This is an exciting move for us and our team,” Timnath Beerwerks co-owner Pete Meyer said in the news release. “We look forward to expanding into a new market and bringing our beer to a new audience.”

Snowbank Brewing, located near the intersection of Lemay and Lincoln avenues, will temporarily close “in the coming weeks” for renovations. Details on the reopening, name changes, beer options and other details will be shared on the social media pages of the respective breweries, the news release said.

A coffee shop and espresso bar within Snowbank Brewery, The Morning Grind, closed in March after just five months of operation.

Snowbank Brewery, best known for its Bungalow IPA, Snow Juice New England IPA and Colorado Red, opened in August 2014.

Snowbank employees will be offered interviews for jobs with the combined operation, and production of both brands will be immediately redistributed between the two brewhouses to meet current business needs, the owners said.

“Having won a NoCo Style Best Brewery top three spot for four years in a row, the Fort Collins brewery district was an obvious next step,” Timnath Beerwerks co-owner Mike Clark said in the news release. “We look forward to welcoming the Snowbank community to ours as we grow into the future.”

Timnath Beerwerks opened in 2018 in the historic Timnath Feed & Grain Building on the corner of Third and Main streets in downtown Timnath. Its beers include a variety of ambers, pilsners, IPAs, lagers and sours.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on this next phase of Snowbank Brewing’s journey,” Snowbank founder Dave Rosso said in the release. “Handing over the reins to Timnath Beerwerks feels like passing the torch to the next generation of breweries who share our dedication to quality and community.”

Timnath Beerwerks will become the second brewery from a surrounding community to open a Fort Collins location when the sale is completed. Loveland-based Verboten Brewing celebrated the grand opening last weekend of its new location at 1611 S. College Ave., site of the former Black Bottle Brewery.
