Zooey Deschanel is aiming to keep her divorce out of the public eye, after the actress filed legal documents to use a private judge for the case.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the 'Elf' actress has agreed with her estranged husband to appoint a temporary private judge for their case.

Keeping Divorce Out Of Public Eye
This will ensure that the couple will not have to appear at any public hearings in their divorce. Also, the couple can now use the private judge to mediate any remaining issues of their divorce. The couple also shares two children together, and any custody issues that come up can also be handled in private. The couple has agreed to joint custody of the couple's two children, Charlie and Elsie.
Hollywood celebrities use private judges which allows them to negotiate their divorces outside of the public courthouse. Most recently, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have done this to split up their massive multi-million dollar fortune.
Moving On With 'Property Brothers' Star
As we reported, Zooey Deschanel is clearly ready to focus on the future after she filed legal documents implying the actress and her ex-husband are close to settling their case.
Jacob Pechenik filed for divorce from the actress in October after nearly 4 years of marriage. In his filing, he listed "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
Deschanel and Pechenik released a joint statement, at the time, saying, "After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners. We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”

Zooey is has moved on and is dating "Property Brothers" star Jonathan Scott. The new couple met shooting an episode of James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" alongside their famous siblings, Emily Deschanel and Drew Scott.
Jonathan and Zooey seem to be in a very serious relationship, the actress recently posted a photo of the two visiting the famed Neon Museum in Las Vegas.
In the photo, she is planting a big kiss on her new BF and the couple looks smitten with each other.
