Zooey Deschanel Moves Divorce Along With Estranged Husband Amid New Romance With Jonathan Scott

Zooey Deschanel is clearly ready to focus on the future instead of the past and has filed new documents in her divorce that implies the former couple is close to wrapping things up. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Deschanel filed the disclosure for her personal income and expense declaration in the split with estranged husband Jacob Pechenik. The document was handled by the former "New Girl" star personally, as she is representing herself pro per in the divorce case.

Jacob Pechenik filed for divorce in October after nearly 4 years of marriage. In his filing, he listed "irreconcilable differences" as the reason and claimed the date of separation was back in January. When news broke of the divorce, Deschanel and Pechenik released a joint statement.

"After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners. We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”

They stayed true to the co-parenting statement, as Pechnik requested joint custody of the couple's two children, Charlie and Elsie.

New Romance

Shortly after it was announced Deschanel was getting a divorce, she was seen strolling around Los Angeles with "Property Brothers" star Jonathan Scott. They had met the month before after shooting an episode of James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" alongside their famous siblings, Emily Deschanel and Drew Scott.

While the two continue to kindle a relationship, Scott has been traveling from his home in Las Vegas to spend time with Zooey in Los Angeles. The actress recently posted a photo of the two visiting the famed Neon Museum in Las Vegas, where they went and saw an exhibit dedicated to the cinematic art of Tim Burton. Planting a kiss on the "Property Brothers" star cheek, Deschanel is clearly smitten with her new boo.

Family Approval

Even though it's only been a couple of months, Deschanel is already accepted and loved by Jonathan Scott's family.

"Property Brothers" co-star Drew recently spoke to US Weekly about his brother dating the TV star.

"It’s exciting. And it means I get to get Jon out here to spend more time with us in L.A.," he said.

He also revealed that the couples have been going on double dates, because "We have a lot of the same interests. We have quirky personalities." During Halloween, they all took a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror nights and were photographed among a group of killer zombies.

Last month, Zooey and Jonathan attended the Halloween-themed wedding of the other Scott brother, JD. The stars dressed up as Batman and Catwoman, and Deschanel later took to Instagram to reflect on the special and fun night.

"It’s the first time I’ve ever been cat-woman escorted to a fancy dress party wedding by Batman. Only for the nuptials of @mrjdscott and @annaleebelle could I be so inspired! Congrats to these gorgeous and gracious love birds, I was overjoyed to celebrate such a happy union!"
