Met Gala co-chair Zendaya offered her first interpretation of the event’s “Garden of Time” dress code last night during its annual pre-dinner. The Challengers actress arrived wearing a partly transparent, archival John Galliano dress from the spring/summer 1998 collection. The white ensemble included pink butterfly and bow detailing. Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, revealed he sourced the dress from Aralda Vintage.

Roach spoke on Thursday about how Zendaya’s dress for the actual Met Gala was coming together somewhat last minute—perhaps in a nod to the exhibit’s theme of celebrating fashion so delicate, it can no longer be worn. “They won’t fit until Saturday,” he told The New York Times.

He teased this weekend that Zendaya could be wearing Loewe when he reposted a People article raising the possibility to his Instagram Stories. He tagged the house’s creative director Jonathan Anderson and added a fingers crossed emoji.

Zendaya spoke to ELLE last summer about Roach’s role as her creative director. “I ride super hard for my team, especially for people I love,” she said. “He’s involved in every fashion contract, everything I do. If I have an opportunity where he can come with me, he’s always going to be there. He’s always been my creative director in a sense, and he continues to fill that role, because it’s more than just clothes on a red carpet.”

Roach confirmed his role, telling ELLE, “Our relationship is like family, so I don’t think I’m going anywhere—and even if I wanted to, she wouldn’t let me.”
