Yes, Zendaya Walked the Met Gala 2024 Red Carpet Twice — See Photos

Stop it all because Zendaya has stepped on the Met Gala 2024 red carpet, officially marking her return to fashion's biggest night, and, of course, she is dressed to the nines for the occasion. And pulling out two looks.

As a co-chair for this year's event, Zendaya is one of the first to grace the Met Gala red carpet, which this year has “The Garden of Time” as the dress code, complementing the exhibition's “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme. (More on that here.)

Since attending her first Met Gala in 2015, Zendaya has always nailed the theme, and of course, the Met Gala 2024 is no exception. Though her long-time stylist, Law Roach, scared everyone, claiming Zendaya's Met Gala 2024 dress "wasn't even made yet" just days before the big event, the star has done it again, wearing a custom siren gown by Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano.

As shared by the maison on Instagram, the dress was featured a corset structure and was “overlaid with iridescent electric blue organza with ‘retrograding’ in undulating bands of hand-painted metallic crin, swathed in an aluminum material and iridescent organza drape and bow.”

The brand describes “retrograding” as “a technique through which variations of thread-work, appliqué, or encrustation degrade from the bottom to the top of a garment like the linear base drawing of a painting that hasn’t yet been finished.”

On her feet, though barely visible, Zendaya wore “faux lizard Tabi interlaced ankle-strap pumps by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela.” She also donned a hand-embroidered corsage.

The silhouette of Zendaya's dress was “inspired by the 1930s mythological works of the photographer Madame Yevonde and imbued with the memory of the orgiastic sceneries of the bacchanals of Ancient Greece.”

Not content with one look, Zendaya actually went back out after walking up the stairs and changed into a completely different second look. The star, accompanied by Roach, who also changed, graced the red carpet again in a long black gown with a corseted bodice and a larger-than-life train, topped off — quite literally — by a headpiece in the shape of a bouquet of flowers.

Zendaya's second look was a period gown sourced from Rita Watnick's coveted archival L.A. store LILY et Cie. Watnick's Instagram account describes LILY et Cie as not only a boutique but also an “amazing resource for haute couture and rare designer pieces,” and Zendaya's Met Gala 2024 certainly proves that. (Lest we forget, this is also where the Olsen twins famously source their own Met Gala garbs!)

Zendaya's headpiece is from Alexander McQueen's spring 2007 collection, and was worn on the runway with a different dress. The black dress Zendaya chose, Watnick's gem, is from Givenchy's spring 1996 haute couture collection, which means it was created the year she was born.

Okay, you are probably thinking that gowns for one night are enough, but you'd be wrong. To host the actual Gala, Zendaya changed into a much more comfortable embroidered slip dress with a plunging neckline, which was custom-made by Celia Kritharioti.

Zendaya's stunning dresses are what we'd expected from the star, who has us accustomed to killer looks, whether she's promoting her films or presenting at the Oscars. The look joins five other Met Gala looks by the star — ranging from a Guo Pei gown to a Versace armor and that unforgettable (super campy) Cinderella moment in Tommy Hilfiger.

Ahead of the Met Gala, Zendaya also already wore another stunning vintage pull to attend a pre-Met Gala dinner alongside her fellow co-chairs. Accompanied by Roach, the star chose a form-fitting dress from John Galliano's spring-summer 1998 ready-to-wear collection sourced from Aralda Vintage featuring a lace bodice with butterflies, bows, and cherry blossom motifs, perfect for the theme because if there's one thing Zendaya will do, it's commit.
