Zach and Tori Roloff reveal 3-week-old son has dwarfism: 'It's not his identity'

Zach and Tori Roloff have revealed their newborn son, Josiah, has been diagnosed with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the "Little People, Big World" couple opened up about their three-week-old son’s diagnosis and why his condition is "not his identity."

"He’s Josiah. He has achondroplasia, but he’s not, like, Josiah the achondroplasia," Zach, 32, told Us Weekly about his son who was born on April 30.

"Just like I’m Tori, I have brown hair," Tori added. "I’m not a brunette — like, that’s not how I would classify myself."

Zach and the couple's two older children, Jackson, 5, and Lilah, 2, were all born with achondroplasia.

Tori explained that the condition is "so normal" in the Roloff family, because in addition to Zach and their children, his parents, Amy and Matt Roloff, also have the disorder.

"We have so many resources and there’s a lot of parents out there who don’t have the same resources and...don’t have the same confidence in everything that Zach and I do," she explained.

Achondroplasia is a form of short-limbed dwarfism that causes abnormal growth in the spine and skull and occurs in one out of every 40,000 births.

The TLC stars, who have been married since 2015, also revealed that they will use their platform to support people with dwarfism.

"We will definitely be advocates for people with dwarfism cause of our kids," Zach said, while Tori added, "Forever."

Fans were quick to support the couple after US Weekly revealed the diagnosis in an Instagram post, expressing that their newborn son is a "person just like anybody else."

"They are such beautiful people. To share their lives, to be in the spotlight; all the scrutiny and negativity that is thrown their way. And yet they continue to persevere, educate… and…thrive!! Thank you Tori and Zach!" commented a fan.

"Josiah is a person just like anybody else," wrote another. "You two are the best parents and it doesn't matter that Josiah has dwarfism or he is average size he is a blessing."

"It doesn’t matter at all as long as they’re healthy," said another.
