Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most popular movie stars in the world. He’s made a career out of finding success in unexpected places. Now, it appears that his foray into the alcohol and spirits world will lead to heights even he couldn’t imagine.

According to Yahoo Finance, his Teremana Tequila could be on track to reach a valuation of $3.5 billion. While Johnson’s exact stake is not known, if it’s 30 percent, his ownership stake could be worth around $1.05 billion. This would make the “Moana” star the newest celebrity billionaire. Keep in mind, that with no exact numbers known, these estimates are based on sales and information about similar tequila brands.

The Rock has been very open about his humble beginnings, even turning them into the NBC comedy “Young Rock.” His family followed the career of his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, which wasn’t always super successful. This means they often lived paycheck to paycheck, with the “Fast & Furious” star admitting that he used to steal snacks from his local 7-Eleven convenience store when he was a teenager.

He eventually entered the family business, becoming a WWE superstar, but it took time for him to become the household name he is now. He originally debuted as one note good guy “Rocky Maivia” and was unceremoniously rejected by the fans. When he changed from Rocky to the more interesting bad guy “The Rock,” he became a legend in the making. Becoming “The Rock” turned around his wrestling career and helped launch his journey to movie stardom. Beginning with “The Mummy Returns,” his string of unexpected hits made him one of Hollywood’s most bankable actors, with a worldwide career box office of $5 billion.

Johnson’s willingness to make risky choices in his roles and business has now led him to the brink of becoming a billionaire, something he probably never could’ve imagined when he was a teenager who just wanted to take care of his mother.

Even with all the controversy swirling around his upcoming holiday film “Red One,” The Rock is obviously still a fan favorite who can get moviegoers excited about a new project. Though he has several projects in the works, including an animated “Moana 2,” a live-action “Moana,” a probable return for “Fast & Furious 11” and another run with WWE, it will be interesting to see if he begins to focus more on building his business portfolio, as we’ve seen many other celeb billionaires do.
