Why Paris Hilton Is Leaving Her 'Breathy Baby Doll Voice' Behind for Upcoming Album with Sia

Hilton opened up about making her upcoming second album with Sia as the pair unveiled a new collaboration, "Fame Won't Love You"

The old Paris Hilton can't come to the studio right now.

As the entrepreneur and media personality works on her upcoming album, executive produced by Sia, the "Stars Are Blind" singer revealed in an interview with Billboard that she's tapped into new vocal territory.

"Being in the studio with Sia at her house, I literally didn’t even know I could sing the way I did. She brought something out of me that nobody ever has. Because I never ever really felt comfortable with people in the studio," Hilton, 43, told the outlet.

"No one really knows this, but I’m actually a very shy person, like painfully shy. But with her, I just feel so comfortable so I really sang in ways that I never knew were possible," she added.

Rather than the innocent, playful vocal tone she became known for on The Simple Life and her 2005 debut album, Paris, fans will hear Hilton singing more confidently on her second full-length project.

"I feel like this whole past year has been about reclaiming my voice — emotionally, physically, in every single way," she said. "It was almost like my real voice came through to my music instead of the voice that everyone would expect, the sexy, kind of breathy baby doll voice."

Sia, 48, also praised Hilton's newfound singing abilities in the interview. "You really let your freak flag fly. It was amazing. You just put your fists down and sort of of stomped on the ground and sang in the loudest voice I’ve ever heard you sing," she said.

"It was so beautiful. It was like a liberation of sorts," added the "Cheap Thrills" hitmaker.

On Friday, April 18, the two artists unveiled a new collaboration, "Fame Won't Love You," from Sia's upcoming Reasonable Woman album, and the track certainly showcases Hilton singing with more precision and a warmer tone than in the past.

"Little dreams come crashing / Let them wave in passing / 'Cause fame won't love you like a mother, like a father should / And you may wish for Oscars / Grammys and blockbusters / 'Cause fame won't love you like a brother, like a lover should," the pair sings on the reflective duet.

Hilton and Sia first linked up musically for a performance of "Stars Are Blind" with Miley Cyrus on the "Wrecking Ball" singer's 2023 New Year's Eve special for NBC, after which the idea to make an album was sparked.

"The next day Sia asked if I wanted to fly home with her on her plane, and we went and she said, 'You were born to be a pop star.' I said 'That’s always been my dream.' She was like, 'Well, what about if we did a record?'" recalled Hilton.

"I was so excited, because I’ve always been such a huge fan. Sia is the greatest songwriter of our time. She’s so brilliant, so talented, and just so amazing. So this has just been a dream come true. She’s one of the kindest, sweetest angels, and I feel that she really came into my life for a reason," added the Paris in Love star.
