Swifties are rallying in defense of Taylor Swift after the singer's highly-anticipated new album appeared to leak online days before its official release.

The hitmaker has been gearing up for the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department ever since she announced it at the 2024 Grammys in February.

But despite the official release date of Friday, April 19, people have managed to get their hands on the new songs a couple of days early—and not all Swifties are happy about it.

After audio files of leaked songs began circulating online on Wednesday, April 18, tons of Swift's fans began speaking out in defense of the "Karma" songstress, calling out others for spreading the unreleased music and lyrics that weren't intended to be heard until Friday.

"You're no fan of Taylor's if you're listening to leaks the DAY before the actual album drops," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Definitely NOT listening to the leaks…disappointed in anyone who would purposely take away from an artist who works so hard, and plans things for her fans to make it special," another user added. "As someone experiencing this for the first time, and I know A LOT of other newbies…why try and ruin this for them too??"

Fans have also been reporting tweets that contain the illegally downloaded audio files, eventually causing X to ban the search term "Taylor Swift leak" to make it harder for users to find the unreleased content.

It's worth mentioning that this isn't the first time one of Swift's albums has leaked before its release date, and the "Cruel Summer" singer herself has even spoken out in the past about her "fears" of such situations.

"I have a lot of maybe-maybe-not-irrational fears of security invasion, wiretaps, people eavesdropping," she said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in 2014, revealing that her 1989 album existed only on her personal phone for almost two years.

That album still ended up leaking a few days before its release, as did her 2012 album Red, 2017 album Reputation, 2019's Lover, and 2022's Midnights.
