WGNO is heading to Disney World to preview ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — On June 28 at Disney World, the all-new attraction, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” is set to open to guests. WGNO’s Kenny Lopez and photojournalist Justin Abshire will head to Disney World to preview the ride in early-June.

Disney invited WGNO to preview “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” which is New Orleans-themed and based off of the hit movie, “The Princess and the Frog.” The attraction will have an iconic 50-foot drop and feature original music, animatronics and well-known tunes from the movie.

“Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” will take over what was once “Splash Mountain.” Some of the new, original music is performed by Grammy award winners PJ Morton and Terrance Blanchard. St. Augustine High School’s marching band will also be featured on the new ride.

The owners of iconic New Orleans restaurant Dooky Chase will also get to experience “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” before it officially opens, because they’ve been instrumental to the new attraction.

The story of “The Princess and the Frog” was based on iconic chef, “The Queen of Creole Cuisine,” Leah Chase. Disney recently surprised the Chase family with an announcement that the entire family will all get a dream vacation to experience the new ride first.

Disney also announced that guests will get a whiff of New Orleans’ delicious treats beignets using “smellitzers,” which are Disney’s scent dispensers at the new attraction.

Be sure to follow WGNO’s adventure at Disney World on air and online June 9 through 11.

“Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” opens at Disney World on June 28, and then will open at Disneyland in California later this year.
