Earlier this summer, Top Gun: Maverick flew into theaters, and everyone became enamored with Tom Cruise's triumphant return to the big screen. Now, a streaming date and a DVD release for Top Gun 2 are just on the horizon. Nearing four decades after the original Top Gun captured audiences, folks were more than ready to see what happened to Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.

Set 36 years after the first installment, Maverick finds himself training and entirely new class of Top Gun recruits (Miles Teller, Glen Powell and Jay Ellis). While he's busy confronting his past (after all, the son of Maverick's dead best friend Goose is among the rookie pilots), familiar faces pop up through the film.

Namely, viewers will instantly recognize Val Kilmer reprising his role as Maverick's former foe-turned-friend Tom "Iceman" Kazansky. But as this all occurs, Maverick realizes he needs to confront old demons before facing a mission which may change the lives of those who ultimately choose to partake in it.

Now, there might be a few questions lingering like when is Top Gun: Maverick coming out on streaming and DVD? How can you rent it at home? Luckily, you won't have to wait too long. Apart from Top Gun: Maverick becoming available to stream online (yes, there's a streaming date!), folks can also snag the film on DVD.

Here's the info you need to know about watching and streaming the action-packed drama online:

Where to watch or stream Top Gun: Maverick:

Top Gun: Maverick will officially be available to stream on August 23 on Paramount+.

Over the last few years, Paramount has garnered a reputation for allowing new movies to play in theaters for at least 45 days before dropping them on their premiere streaming platform. It may have been a while since Top Gun: Maverick debuted on May 27, but Newsweek confirmed the film would come out on Paramount+ by the end of the summer.

In addition, Paramount+ announced that the movie will be available to buy on Ultra 4K HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Starting November 1, fans can purchase a physical copy of Top Gun: Maverick, complete with exclusive bonus content and a teaser trailer for Tom's next blockbuster movie Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.

With all of this big news in mind... how can you watch Top Gun: Maverick once it drops? Well, you'll definitely need to get yourself a Paramount+ account first. If you're a new subscriber, you can try out a one-week free trial before opting into plans that start at $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year. The platform also gives a 25% discount rate for students, so if you qualify for that, absolutely check that deal out. If you're already a subscriber, all you have to do is check out the movie page on the website or the Paramount+ app.

In the case that you don't want to sign up for a new streaming service, you can also rent and buy it on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Google Play and Vudu. If you're wondering about Top Gun: Maverick landing on Netflix, Hulu or HBO Max, it's not out of the realm of possibilities, but it seems like Paramount+ will its home.

All that said, you can also plop on your couch and stream the original film. Happy watching!
