Viola Davis’s Super-Rare Family Photo With Daughter Genesis Has Fans Wondering Where the Time Has Gone
Despite Viola Davis being a legendary actress, she keeps her family life quite private from the public eye, which is an impressive feat when you consider how prolific she is. But like many celebrities, she wants to keep her family life as low-key as possible, but she did recently treat fans to a darling, super-rare photo featuring her, her husband Julius Tennon, and their adopted daughter Genesis. And fans are wondering where the time has gone, especially since Genesis is growing up so fast!
On April 2, the Oscar-winning actress shared a photo to her Instagram, which she shared with the caption reading, “Happy Easter from our family to yours!”

In the photo, we see the family-of-three smiling from ear-to-ear as they hug each other in this super-sweet full-family photo. Not only do we see them all matching in black and gray jackets, but we see Davis hugging her daughter Genesis, who looks so cool alongside her mama (and is rocking a Sublime sweatshirt — which is just plain awesome).
Seriously, it feels like yesterday we heard the news of Davis adopting Genesis, and now she’s growing up so fast!
Davis and her husband Tennon adopted Genesis back in 2011 when she was only an infant. Davis is also the stepmother to Tennon’s two other children.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Davis had an amazing answer when asked about balancing work and motherhood. “Whatever time you spend where you can look at your child, and take them in, and listen to them so they can be seen is time that they will remember forever. I don’t think that it has to be even a long time,” she said. “I think it’s like — I think Maya Angelou said it, that when you walk through the door, that a child literally changes when they know. They light up when you look at them, and you see them, and you say you love them. That’s the most I can give to a working mom.”
