How is everyone holding up after the series finale of This Is Us? Yes, the well-loved NBC drama just aired its final episode and fans quickly grabbed for their tissue boxes to bid adieu to the Pearson family. In fact, we saw just about everyone in this episode: Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Griffin Dunne, Caitlin Thompson, among others. Even Chris Sullivan made an appearance in the season 6 finale episode.

But there was one actor who surprisingly didn't make it to camera and fans are incredibly mad about it. That was none other than Jon Huertas, who has spent the past six years playing best friend-turned-husband Miguel. What's more, in a season where the writers purposely dedicated an entire episode to the character's story, it felt jarring to not see him somewhere in the episode.

Now, at this point in the season six storyline, Miguel is not supposed to physically be around — he did pass away a short while before Pearson matriarch Rebecca's impending death from Alzheimer's. But given how the episode purposely oscillated between present day and flashbacks to a benign day during the Big Three's childhood, there was more than enough room for Miguel to make a surprise appearance.

Maybe just to stop by with ice cream for the kids or even just to say a quick hello to his best friend? We're just thinking off the tops of our heads, but it would've been nice to get some final closure for our dear friend.

By the sounds of it, it seems like we're not the only ones who were rather bummed by Miguel's disappearance. Fans on Reddit were clearly not happy with this creative license either, user @throwawaylastsupper wrote, "Biggest complaint for me is seeing Jon Huertas in the credits, and never seeing Miguel on screen. Boo hiss." A different fan by the username @Sparkle_Markle replied, "I was waiting for his to show up but nope. This show is so rude to him."

Fans on Twitter were equally disgruntled by the snub, with most having one underlying thought: What happens to Miguel? We know that Rebecca and Jack are finally together in heaven after decades of being apart from each other.

But as a This Is Us viewer tweeted, "What about Miguel in the after life. Does he just step and be alone? 😔." Another echoed the sentiment, but added this caveat: "Poor Miguel gets no love in the afterlife."

So yeah ... we're definitely sad to have not gotten real closure with Miguel. As folks know, his death was alluded to and now shown on the NBC series. Although it was thought that he may have had a heart attack or stroke, there was no concrete answer given. But as This Is Us was really about the little moments between the Pearson family, maybe it's all for the best.
