Untitlab Explores Radical Futures Through Genderless Accessories and Footwear

Undefinable and radical footwear and accessories label untitlab took us to Crypt Gallery for the presentation of their Fall/Winter 2023 collection during the first day of London Fashion Week. The location, designed and utilized for coffin burials during the 19th century and now used as a gallery, delivered a sinister and macabre energy that accompanied guests throughout the entire course of "Introspection."

Adding on to the dramatic, dark atmosphere of the space, a series of live performances by Dahc Dermur VIII, Lewis Walker, Zhou Chen, Butterfly Princess, and Todd Lamming accompanied the showcase. These visual narratives led by non-binary and LGBTQ+ artists explored the emotional vibrations of human presence through body movement, vocal experimentation and ambient music. It also served (as described by the label) as "an intermediate link of introspection, observing and retrospecting without judgment."

Powerful messages surrounding culture, gender and masculinity were delivered through futuristic, monochromatic footwear silhouettes. For those unfamiliar with the brand, untitlab was founded in Shanghai in 2019 through the creative partnership of Art Director Tian Cai and Creative Director Sans. It is known for its genderless contemporary approach to footwear and accessories. In particular, the imprint focuses on freedom of self-expression away from defined gender norms and societal expectations.
