'Tyrant' Season 2 Finale Preview: Will Jamal's Wife Betray Him to Save Herself?

If anyone’s possibly more ruthless than Jamal Al-Fayeed, it’s his wife, Leila (Moran Atias). And after years of supporting Jamal’s increasingly insane, out-of-control, largely unsuccessful leadership of Abuddin, Leila may be the one to insure her husband is ousted from his position and his country.

In the exclusive clip above from Tuesday’s Season 2 finale of the FX drama, Leila is accompanied by Colonel Mahmoud (Peter Polycarpou) to a meeting with the Arab League. They want her testimony against Jamal (Ashraf Barhom). She wants not only the immunity they’re offering her and son Ahmed (Cameron Gharaee), but a promise that Ahmed will have a hand in the new government of Abbudin.

“Pax Abuddin,” written by Emmy-winning series co-creator Howard Gordon and executive producer Chris Keyser, and directed by Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and The Walking Dead alum Gwyneth Horder-Payton, also finds Barry (Adam Rayner) bonding with nephew Rami (Keon Alexander), who he hopes will stay in their home country and oversee the transition to a new leadership. But does Rami still have plans of a new life in London, with his half-brother’s wife, Nusrat (Sibylla Deen)?

The series, which turned focus to Al-Fayeed brother Barry’s attempt to improve life in Abuddin and featured intense episodes directed by Peter Weller and Ernest Dickerson and written by Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron in Season 2, has yet to be renewed for Season 3.

The Tyrant Season 2 finale airs Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. on FX.
