Tyler Cameron is sharing his thoughts on The Golden Bachelor‘s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist divorcing after three months of marriage.

The reality star, who became the runner-up on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, recently said on SiriusXM’s Today Show Radio’s The Happy Hour that the couple’s separation put a “true stain on love in The Bachelor world.”

“Three months? They make all of my relationships seem very long,” Cameron quipped. “Like golly, I’m a dating expert compared to them!”

Turner and Nist, who tied the knot Jan. 4 in a televised wedding ceremony less than two months after their engagement was revealed on the hit ABC dating series, announced on Good Morning America last week that they were going to “dissolve” their marriage.

When Cameron heard the news, he felt like it “put a stain on love and Bachelor Nation” because the history-making couple’s story was “the most wholesome” and brought “so much joy” to the Bachelor franchise.

“[They] brought like, joy and true love, that we thought, and then they just pulled the rug right out from under us like, ‘Nope, we don’t want to live together [or] live near each other,'” he added.

However, he also suggested another “theory” for Turner and Nist’s falling out, using his own father as an example.

“My dad, he’s old, he’s set in his ways and he’s single and he can’t find anyone that wants to deal with the stuff he does. And I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t blame them, Dad,” Cameron said. “But he doesn’t want to change much either and I imagine Gerry and Theresa … don’t want to change their ways.”

The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test star continued, “[Turner] doesn’t want to leave Indiana where his family is and [Nist] doesn’t want to leave … New Jersey where she wants to live. Like it’s just two stubborn old people, you know, and when you get older you get more stubborn.”

Cameron isn’t the only former Bachelor Nation star to react to Turner and Nist’s divorce news. Nick Viall, who led season 21 of The Bachelor, told People earlier this week that he “was caught off guard, and surprised by the abruptness.”

“I think what shocked me the most is this wasn’t just a normal breakup or an end of an engagement, this was a divorce announcement,” he added. “It doesn’t require lawyers to get out of an engagement. It does require lawyers to get out of a marriage, and I’m really curious what changed with Gerry and Theresa that made them so sure to sign up a marriage license, but now only to get a divorce.”

Viall said he feels “there’s more to the story that we’re not hearing,” and that “maybe Gerry’s not as golden as we hoped he would be.”

In November, ahead of The Golden Bachelor‘s season one finale, The Hollywood Reporter published a report that raised questions regarding Turner’s past. On the ABC show, Turner said he hadn’t dated anyone since his first wife’s death; however, a woman, who requested anonymity, said she was in a relationship with Turner for more than two years.

Turner and Nist haven’t shared many details regarding the reason for their split, but Nist told GMA that the revelations in the report did not play a part in their divorce.

“Gerry had already discussed that with me,” she said at the time. “He had explained it before the report was ever released, so we were good with that. It didn’t play into it.”
