Ryan Seacrest is getting a lot of negative attention on the Golden Globes red carpet this year.
In between talking with celebrities on E! News, the TV host announced that he was wearing a black band around his wrist as part of the "Time's Up X 2" movement. The new bracelets, as he explained, are a follow up to last year's protest against sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace. Apart from continuing the cause from last year, they're also meant to represent a call to action to double the number of women in leadership positions (Debra Messing gives a good explanation below).
But given that Seacrest faced sexual abuse and harassment allegations from his personal stylist in February 2018, many online are outraged that he would be wearing one.
"So Ryan Seacrest is back hosting E!'s red carpets like nothin happened AND even has the nerve to wear Time's Up bracelet," one tweeted. Many others pointed out that it seemed "ironic" that the American Idol host was wearing the black bracelet, and thought it was odd that no celebrity on the red carpet called him out for it.

Back in February, Seacrest declared that the allegations weren't true. E! also reportedly investigated the claims and concluded that they were unsubstantiated. As a result, Seacrest kept his positions at E! News, Kelly and Ryan, and American Idol.
"This person who has accused me of horrible things offered, on multiple occasions, to withdraw her claims if I paid her millions of dollars. I refused," Ryan said in a statement to USA Today. "I don’t want to accuse anyone of not telling the truth but in this case, I have no choice but to again deny the claims against me, remind people that I was recused of any wrongdoing, and put the matter to rest."
Ryan isn't the only one wearing a bracelet this year. Tim Loden and Golden Globes co-host Andy Samberg showed up on the carpet donning them as well.
So far, the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund has reportedly connected nearly 4,000 women and men who have faced sexual assault, harassment or retaliation at work with legal and PR resources.
