Twitter can't handle it after Toby blows up on 'This Is Us'

Tuesday’s This Is Us showed a different side of the normally happy-go-lucky Toby, and fans on Twitter immediately took notice when he interrupted an argument between Kate and Rebecca with, “Shut up! Everyone just shut up!”

His outburst came when Rebecca found out that he and Kate were trying IVF and she began warning them of the dangers.

“It’s not about you, Rebecca. It’s not about any of you,” Toby (played by Chris Sullivan) said during the rant. “This is about me and Kate, all right? We lost a child, and now we want to start a family. And we needed a little help because we have bad eggs, and apparently I have really bad sperm.”

The outburst is partly a result of Toby’s not taking his anti-depressants in the hope of improving his sperm count. Fans had mixed reactions to that.

Given Toby’s popularity among fans, it’s no surprise he was a trending topic. And while some might be “starting to dislike Toby,” most are just concerned for the character’s well-being.

Though he eventually cooled down, this storyline is just starting to simmer.
