TV's Top April Fool's Pranks (No Joke)

While the official origins of April Fool’s day still remain a mystery, there is no doubt that people have embraced April 1st as a fun-filled day of practical jokes, pranks, and hoaxes. And several television shows have delighted viewers by paying homage to the day with special “April Fool’s”-themed episodes.

In the video above, Yahoo TV counts down our top five April Fool’s pranks from classic TV shows such as M*A*S*H, ER, and Full House. Also making the list is Comedy Central’s animated series South Park. The highly anticipated premiere of the show’s second season in 1998, promised audiences that they would learn the identity of Cartman’s father. Instead, viewers were pranked and told they would not get a resolution to the mystery presented in the season one cliffhanger. This prank angered the show’s devoted fans, sparking them to send thousands of complaint emails to the network.
