Appointed as Jean Paul Gaultier Couture's single-season creative director, Glenn Martens showcased a collection filled with trompe l'oeil and denim for Y/Project's Fall/Winter 2022 show.

Staged in a giant warehouse space in Paris, the runway starred the designer's friends Camille Bidault-Waddington and Olivier Theyskens alongside models dressed in suits, shirts, dresses and more with details fusing Y/Project with Gaultier's signature style.

"We took one of his most iconic prints and we interpreted it in a Y/Project way. It’s very layered — you have men’s prints and women’s prints and they go on top of each other," Martens explained to Vogue, just a week ahead of his JPG takeover for the Haute Couture show.

In true Gaultier style, trompe l'oeil was seen throughout the presentation, with body prints on denim sets, tank tops and more. These pieces were styled with oversized coats and jackets, in addition to puffer outerwear designs. The looks were accompanied by Martens' deconstructed denim along with woven knit tops. Further standouts include two balaclava looks with cocoon-silhouette knitwear and baggy pants.
