Tori Spelling Admits She Hasn't 'Pooped or Peed Alone in 18 Years' — and Son Beau, 7, 'Stands There' with Her

The reality TV star says the task fell to her kids after she separated from estranged husband Dean McDermott

Tori Spelling is admitting just how close she is with her kids.

On the Monday, April 8 episode of her podcast misSPELLING, the Beverly Hills 90210 star, 50, shared that she used to have her estranged husband Dean McDermott stand with her while she went to the bathroom, but the practice has since fallen to her kids amid her split from the actor.

Admitting that she hasn't "pooped [or] peed alone in 18 years," the star explained that "first it was Dean, then it was kids."

"Beau still stands there and stares and talks to me while I'm pooping," Spelling shared on her podcast. "I think I function better with people."

"Is that co-dependent?" the mom of five asked herself, then answered, "Yes. Cool."

In the same episode, Spelling shared how co-parenting has been going between her and McDermott since the two called it quits this past summer.

"I honestly had spent the time taking care of the kids and focusing on them, and they weren't ready to see their dad. And I went to see him once when he was in rehab. And we were with therapists, and it got painful and argumentative. It was a lot," Spelling recalled.

"It was a lot, and I didn't feel like he was doing well. Like, there was still a lot of anger and aggression, and so I didn't go back. And I know that hurt him a lot. He felt like we abandoned him when he was going through that process. But I had to do what was right for the kids."

Later in the podcast, Spelling revealed that she's optimistic that her relationship with McDermott will be "amicable" moving forward.

"We're co-parenting very well right now. Like, the kids are seeing him again, and they're happy with his progress and the work he's done on himself. And they're proud of him, and we like his girlfriend."

"And we all co-parent together and living the dream," Spelling continued. "You hope it works out like that. You always hope that. I don't know. I don't know what's gonna happen now."

Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott last month, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the mom of five is seeking sole physical and joint legal custody of their children.

According to the divorce documents, Spelling and McDermott, who have been married since 2006, listed their date of separation as June 17, 2023.
