Top 5 Moments of Episode 8:

1. One Big Not So Happy Family: Donna Lynn Hope wrote “Never ignore the elephant in the room. That’s rude; play with it and introduce it.” After the latest elimination of Soda Thompson, which had some very interesting ramifications for the tribe in this episode, that elephant in the room was who exactly owned responsibility for her ouster. Tevin Davis had every reason to be annoyed as Venus Vafa took credit, lying to Soda in the process. Everyone was shocked to see Venus survived, which is a fun way of saying, “Cool! You probably are next.” Liz Wilcox apparently has a big ego as she took the slight more personal. Ben Katzman was emotional over the loss of Tim Spicer, which annoyed Q Burdette. Q also called himself a “game changer,” which is interesting since he is starting to get more and more confident in the game. Maybe too confident?

2. Camp Life: Q created a skirt and orchestrated a game of hide and seek, which might be the funniest moment of the night. Charlie Davis noticed that Q was getting too much power and had a night meeting with him, calling on him to join a powerful alliance. Nothing against the mystical six though, as Charlie noted it did turn on Tim and he might have to “go awry” to stop it. Charlie also proved that he is not great at hide and seek while Hunter McKnight excels at it. Smart choice to hide that far up in a tree! Ben placed a giant target on his back though as he was the hardest to find. I would also love to give a shout out to Venus and Tevin as they did clear the air, even if Venus really does think it was all her doing and felt like she could form an alliance of sorts with him. Naturally, all of this infuriated Liz. Tiffany Nicole Ervin placed herself in danger when she defended Venus, which was by far the dumbest move of the night. Read the room Tiffany! Q even told Maria Shrime Gonzalez that Tiffany had an idol as the alliance planned to turn on their straggler.

3. Challenge Time: The minute I saw the challenge, a giant smile appeared on my face as this one is an oldie but a goodie. The rice bag offering to the tribe, at the cost of four players dropping out or the possibility of losing a vote, was an extra wrinkle that nobody expected. Honestly, nothing is worth sitting out a challenge in my mind, but to each their own. In the end, nobody sat out. This group was not skilled at this challenge in comparison to past contestants. The David Jelinsky mentions will never get old either. You might say I want “several” of them. The showdown between Charlie and Hunter was fun to watch, with Hunter eventually emerging victorious, even showing off on the pole.

4. Jury Management 101: With a major target on Tiffany, this all seemed cut and dry but this is “Survivor” and the plan soon hit some snags. Q was very bitter about the loss of rice, which was equal parts sour grapes and being hangry. Liz decided that the game needed a new jolt of energy and targeted Tevin as a blindside. On paper, a great idea that spread like wild fire. Q was less than thrilled with this development to say the least.

5. The Second Juror is Named: I do not think that Jeff was at all ready for the insanity that was this Tribal Council, which was one of the best since nobody really minced words. Q asked everyone to vote for him, throwing everyone for a loop. Nonetheless, he was adamant he needed to be voted out for the benefit of the others. Tevin was all for this as even more scrambling occurred right in front of an equally confused Soda. The confusion spilt into the voting as they did not really care if Q was going to be miserable sticking around. In the end, Tevin Davis was eliminated. He might be a hard vote to get in the end if he is bitter, but seemed okay with the outcome.
