Tim Story-Directed Film ‘The Pickup’ Sees Several Crew Members Injured On Set

While filming the forthcoming Eddie Murphy-led movie The Pickup, multiple crew members were injured on set, Associated Press reports.
The incident reportedly took place over the weekend in Atlanta at Shadowbox Studios while going over an “already rehearsed” scene.
It has also been noted that Murphy and the Amazon MGM Studios film’s co-stars Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson were present at the time.
“On April 20, an accident occurred on the set of The Pickup during a rehearsed 2nd unit action sequence,” a spokesperson for Amazon Studios stated. “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several members of the crew were injured as a result. We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those who are recovering.”
The statement added, “The well-being of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming. All safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot.”
According to AP, the injuries were a result of “a completely freak accident” involving a truck crashing. Reportedly, crew members suffered bumps and bruises and broken bones, leading two staff people to receive emergency care at the hospital.”
However, the studio assured that “all are expected to make a full recovery.”
The Tim Story-directed film — which “follows a man (Murphy) who becomes entangled in a heist attempt while pursuing a woman’s affections” — has yet to receive a release date, but the production is not expected to be delayed.
