When it comes to sneaker shopping on the resale market, it’s impossible to know all the answers. With this in mind, this week’s episode of Complex and In The Know’s The Flip comes with a special bonus. Host Racks Rogan chops it up with international reseller and Sold Soles founder Jay who shares his advice for promoting shoes and connecting with your audience.
One of the key components to securing that sale, according to Jay, is through the power of social media.
“In 2021, use Reels, use TikTok as a way to get to your audience,” he said. “That’s the only way you’re going to get a free platform to connect with millions of people.”
Getting into the specifics, Jay added that something easy that everyone can do is to utilize “the green screen background.”
“You can change it to whatever background you want to make your video a bit more interesting, then talk about whatever product you’re selling. Then you can have a video or picture in the background that is going to get your point across and engage with your audience,” he said.
Now, in this week’s edition of “The Drop,” Racks covered a few releases that you can use to put Jay’s extensive promotion plan to the test. Kicking off the list is the latest from Nike’s collaboration with Sacai and, according to Racks, this paid gets added to the “Hot List” with no hesitation.
“I’ll just go ahead and say ‘hot’ really quick on these for the simple fact that most of the colorways that have already come out are doing well beyond double the retail value,” he said. “So, it’s a safe bet that these are going to be no different.”
And in what Racks dubbed as “saving the best for last” is the latest offering from Travis Scott’s collaboration series with Nike and Air Jordan.
“These shoes — they’re not going to last long, OK?” Racks mentioned. “Anything that Travis touches right now is gold and this is no different.”
So it’s safe to say that this one’s definitely on this week’s “Hot List.”
