There's a unique, limited-time art exhibit in Shreveport and it's free

Artspace has opened up two new exhibits featuring a trio of artists that use their talents to break through the boundaries of creativity. These exhibits will be open free to the public until May 28.

Sculptor Julie Glass and fiber artist Sherry Tamburo present "Brazen Spirit" an exhibit that showcases opposing material textures like hard and soft or rough and smooth to give the observer a spin on these artists' creations, which are made with found objects and raw materials.

Each artist has individual pieces in their own style as well as collaborative creations that include mixed media, welding and fiber art to create a visually varied and intriguing experience. The exhibition illustrates that the artists and their art is greater than the sum of their parts.

Parker Turner's "Breaching the Surface" exhibit introduces acrylic on canvas with geometric shapes, bold lines and playfully bright color palette to express themes around vices, temptations, love and growth.

Turner's art is described as "edgy" with his use of X-ray-like depictions with the acrylic on canvas to give the viewer a look under the surface of his subjects. Reoccurring symbols of hearts, snakes, bones and flowers expose the internal conflict within the mind.
