Reba McEntire, the undisputed Queen of Country, officially joined “The Voice” as a coach during its 24th installment in Fall 2023. She is a three-time Grammy winner who had a history on the singing show, as she previously served as the mega mentor for every coach in Seasons 8 and 23, and helped out Blake Shelton during Season 1. Now that the Season 25 blind auditions, battles and knockouts have wrapped up, can Reba prevail for the first time on NBC’s reality TV show?

1. Asher HaVon (3-CHAIR TURN)

Growing up in Selma, Ala., Asher was surrounded by gospel singers. President Obama went to Selma in 2015 for a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery in honor of African-American civil rights. Asherauditioned for a spot in the choir that was set to perform John Legend’s song “Glory.” The choir director was so blown away by Asherthat Asher led the choir that day, performing in front of 200,000 people. This was also a turning point for his relationship with his father, whom he’s always had a complicated relationship with. A couple of years ago, his father survived a car accident and their relationship grew even stronger. They now talk regularly and he greatly supports Asher’s music. It was Asher’s mom who really pushed him to sing when he was young. He likes to call her his singing sergeant and is excited to make her proud on “The Voice.”

2. Justin & Jeremy Garcia (3-CHAIR TURN) — STOLEN IN BATTLES

Resident: Millbrae, CA

Justin & Jeremy Garcia are identical twins, with Justin being 21 minutes older. Despite looking alike, they have a few hobbies that set them apart. Justin plays for his school’s volleyball team and enjoys dancing and playing basketball, while Jeremy produces music, participates in musical theater and can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 15 seconds. Together, they share a love for music and have joined forces to work on their voices and perfect harmonies. When they were 4 years old, their dad posted a video of them dancing to OutKast’s “Hey Ya!,” which went viral, earning them the nickname “Hey Ya Twins.” They grew up teaching themselves how to play several instruments, including guitar and piano. In high school, they formed a band and started performing live. With their family’s support, they gained more confidence and had opportunities to perform in concerts and shows, including opening for Filipino celebrities at the Fox Theater.

3. Josh Sanders (2-CHAIR TURN)
Age: 35
Hometown: Kannapolis, NC
Resident: Landis, NC

Josh grew up in a family of musicians and started playing bass guitar as a child in the church band. Learning the guitar shortly after in his teenage years, he had the opportunity to join a band called Smokin” In his late teens and early 20s, Josh played in several rock bands, on Rock Legends cruise ships and stages up and down the East Coast. In his 20s, Josh decided to leave the rockstar lifestyle behind and settle down with his wife, Kendra, whom he has known since they were neighbors at 5 years old. After having three daughters, they had a son, Leelynd, who they tragically lost the day he was born. They have been blessed with another daughter, completing their family of 7. After the loss of their son, Josh leaned into music and the church he pastors to find healing and purpose. When Josh isn’t with all his girls, you will find him hunting or helping around Kendra’s grandmother’s farm.

4. Jackie Romeo (2-CHAIR TURN) — STOLEN IN KNOCKOUTS

Resident: Massapequa, NY

Jackie started her musical journey performing in church alongside her mom at age 10. In high school, she developed confidence by performing on stages around New York at wedding venues and at he Apollo Amateur night, where she was a semi-finalist. She also built her social media presence by singing covers, and, for the first time, received unsolicited comments about her weight. This led her to promote body positivity and self-love on her social media and in her music, finding inspiration from artists Lizzo and Adele. Jackie’s debut single, “Pretty Girls,” written by Debbie Gibson, touches upon negative thoughts of body image and comparison but, ultimately, being alright with who you are. Since graduation, Jackie has committed to pursuing her music career and was also accepted to Berklee College of Music, but deferred admission to audition for “The Voice.”

5. L. Rodgers (1-CHAIR TURN)
Age: 34
Hometown: Baltimore, MD
Resident: Baltimore, MD

Growing up, L always felt that something was different about her. It wasn’t until a few years ago that she went deep diving into research and uncovered she was autistic. Music has been instrumental in her journey with autism. She grew up with music as her dad, a professional guitarist, helped nurture her talent. In her 20s, L identified as bisexual and married a man, but ultimately prioritized her authenticity, coming out as a lesbian and finding love with her now wife, Dara. Embracing her true self has garnered L a substantial following on TikTok, with over 250,000 followers. Singing is also her special connection with her Memaw, even as she battles Alzheimer’s. L hopes “The Voice” can showcase her talent for her Memaw and make her proud.

Ashley Bryant (1-CHAIR TURN) — STOLEN IN KNOCKOUTS
AGE: 26
Hometown: Louisville, KY
Resident: Louisville, KY

Ashley’s life changed drastically in 2019 due to a tragic car accident, leaving her with hearing loss in her right ear. Despite the challenges, she persevered and relearned to sing with limited hearing. Ashley’s singing talent was initially hidden until she impressed everyone with a performance during a high school ceremony. She went on to pursue a career in the dental field while developing her singing skills through karaoke, competing in contests just about every weekend. After a decision to make a career change, she obtained her esthetician license and instead of karaoke nights, now plays gigs on the weekends.

Zeya Rae (1-CHAIR TURN) — STOLEN IN KNOCKOUTS
Age: 23
Hometown: Stockton, CA
Resident: Laguna Niguel, CA

Zeya comes from a family of talented singers who never pursued professional careers. Everyone in her family loves music and often gathers to sing and play instruments. Zeya’s fondest memories involve singing Alicia Keys’ songs with her mom. At age 11, she decided to make music her dream and worked hard to become a professional musician. She performed at various events and gained recognition, with the local radio station reaching out to her for shows. A few years ago, Zeya felt burnt out from the music grind and decided to become a medical assistant. Although she loved working there, she really missed music and looked for a job with more flexibility. Zeya took a job as a nanny working for two separate families. She knew it would be a good fit given that she grew up helping with her eight siblings.

William Alexander (2-CHAIR TURN) — ELIMINATED IN BATTLES
Age: 16
Hometown: Staten Island, NY
Resident: Staten Island, NY

William, a first-generation Indian American, was introduced to music through Indian melodies, despite not speaking Malayalam fluently. His father encouraged William’s vocal talent. Winning first place in a church talent show boosted his confidence. Supported by his parents, William auditioned for Kidz Bop and had the opportunity to record music, be a part of a music video and perform at renowned venues such as the Apollo Theater. While his parents prioritize academics, Williams excels in challenging AP classes, particularly enjoying subjects like calculus while still considering music as his main career path and academics as a backup plan.

Donny Van Slee (2-CHAIR TURN) — ELIMINATED IN BATTLES
Age: 30
Hometown: Weeki Wachee, FL
Resident: Nashville, TN

Dr. Donny Van Slee is a chiropractor by day and a musician by night. While in school, participating in an internship, he made a pitstop in Nashville and fell in love with the music scene. He went out on a limb and emailed a few of the music venues in Nashville, remarkably landing a gig at Tootsies. He received his doctorate as a chiropractor and immediately relocated to Nashville to participate in Tootsies’ “Honky Tonk School.” Three years later, he’s still in Nashville, balancing music and chiropractic. Five days a week, he’s caring for nearly 50 patients daily, then he’s downtown gigging at night. In February, he released his debut album, “31.”His major goals are to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium and Red Rocks Amphitheater. Donny feels lucky to have his family in Florida supporting his music journey every step of the way.

Elyscia Jefferson (3-CHAIR TURN) — ELIMINATED IN BATTLES
Age: 20
Hometown: Baltimore, MD
Resident: Laurel, MD

Elyscia grew up in a household full of music, thanks to her father, who had a music studio in their basement. At 17 years old, Elyscia joined the family band Sound Connection, performing everywhere from weddings to corporate events. Elyscia now makes a living by gigging, but she has a side hustle of writing jingles for major companies and their commercials. One of her jingles was even placed in a commercial for the popular sports brand “Champion.” In addition to her father playing a pivotal role in her musical sensibilities, her mother – a skilled makeup artist and the proud owner of the Faith Girl makeup brand – takes on the role of her stylist for all her shows. With her family’s love and guidance, Elyscia is excited to showcase her talent on “The Voice.”
