ICYMI, the exposed G-string is back in a big way — and SZA is the latest celebrity to be fully on board.

The G-string renaissance makes a lot of sense, given that all things Y2K are currently dominating the trend cycle. The G-string and accompanying peekaboo “whale tail” were a mainstay in the ‘00s, and stars like Bella Hadid and Olivia Rodrigo have embraced it recently. Now, SZA is taking it to the next level with a bejeweled butterfly G-string that she wore with low-rise, oversized Levi’s.

The underwear in question makes a few appearances in SZA's latest Instagram photo dump, including in the opening pic, where she poses in a red jersey that matches the vibrant crimson color of the G-string. The strings of the underwear pop out from the waistband of her jeans, which are loosely cinched with a buckle belt.

In another pic, shot from behind, we see the rhinestone butterfly in all its glory, hanging from glittering, sparkly gemstone straps.

The musician did have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction on the day she wore the aforementioned G-string outfit; in her Instagram comments, SZA wrote: “My butterfly panties broke halfway through the day.” Thankfully, she was prepared for a potential undie SOS. “[I] had a spare in my pocket." (That explains the black undies she's wearing in another pic.)

Elsewhere in the carousel, we get a glimpse of SZA's new kirituhi shoulder tattoo, which she got while on tour in New Zealand. (Māori tattoo artist Leroy Roberts was behind the design.) We also get a glimpse at some very cute Diet Coke-themed slippers, as well as a camo shirt, trucker hat, and boyshort ensemble, just in case sparkling G-strings aren't your thing. But after seeing these pics, don't you want a butterfly G-string of your own? We do.
