Sustainable Outfit Ideas for Fashion Week Season

Fashion month is in full swing and while the concept of fashion weeks can sometimes result in increased consumption, there are plenty of emerging designers doing things differently and working to promote a more circular and sustainable world. As a result, those of us who attend fashion week have the opportunity to do the same thing and it turns out, it's easier than you might think.

This season, we challenged ourselves to opt for pre-loved fits over popular trends and styled a number of sustainable looks through renting, borrowing and shopping secondhand with Depop. Increasingly, the pre-loved platform is finding itself at the center of fashion week, with emerging creatives and sellers like johnsvintagefazedbyfinn and breadandbuttercollection curating vintage fashion and streetwear selections purely for the purpose of fashion week dressing.

As a result, we took to the platform to source vintage and secondhand pieces from some of our favorite brands and designers, including those showcasing at LFW for Fall/Winter 2023.

Take a look at our rundown of London Fashion Week looks below.

While you're here, check out our roundup of the biggest trends from this LFW season.

The first of our LFW looks began with a borrowed Feng Chen Wang blazer and silver necklace, worn alongside charity shop cargo pants. Completing the outfit was a selection of secondhand purchases from Depop, consisting of some limited-edition adidas and Raf Simons Ozweego trainers and a black and silver MISBHV leather bag.

Next up, we styled a pair of borrowed black Sophia Webster boots, alongside existing Vetements tights and a rented balaclava from HURR. Finishing the luminous look was a vivid green MISBHV puffer jacket and black leather skirt, both of which were bought secondhand from Depop.

For our third look, we paired some baggy black jeans with a rented Miu Miu jacket from HURR and our own Feng Chen Wang bag and plain black turtleneck. To add a pop of color to the minimal outfit, we paired an orange JW Anderson hat with a matching orange Acne Studios scarf, found on Depop.

Our next fashion week fit comprised an old pleated skirt with a borrowed white shirt and tie, worn alongside the same silver necklaces from our first look. Rounding out the black and white outfit was a black MAM croissant bag alongside another Depop find: a bright cobalt blue Stussy cardigan.

As we attended the Ukrainian Fashion Week showcase on the final day of LFW, we opted for a denim co-ord borrowed from Ukrainian designer, KSENIASCHNAIDER. Completing the monochromatic look was our final Depop purchase, a fluffy green Acne Studios hat.
