‘Survivor 46’: Chaos cast clearly cursed as 4th idol goes unplayed

The word “chaos” has been thrown around quite a lot throughout “Survivor 46,” most often when it comes to Q Burdette‘s eye-popping actions at tribal council. But we’ve also seen wild and crazy moments from Liz Wilcox (all she wanted was a bourbon burger), Venus Vafa (that darn wagon ran over her toe), Bhanu Gopal (his entire essence) and David Jelinsky (for several reasons). Now, following Wednesday’s 10th episode, it’s clear that the Season 46 cast members aren’t just chaotic … they’re also cursed when it comes to idols.

To date, four hidden immunity idols have been found on “Survivor 46,” and all four went unplayed. The first person to go home with an idol in their pocket was Randen Montalvo, who was medically evacuated from the game on Day 7 due to a pinched nerve in his hand. The only person he had told about the idol was Venus, but due to the show’s rules, he could not give it to her after his medevac.

Randen’s idol was re-hidden at the Nami beach by the show’s producers, and it was soon discovered by Hunter McKnight. On Day 17, after the comp beast lost the immunity challenge, he made the epic mistake of telling his fellow tribe mates about his idol, believing the threat of the advantage would save him. It didn’t. After tying with Q at tribal council, Hunter was voted out almost unanimously on the re-vote.

Over at the Siga tribe, Jemila “Jem” Hussain-Adams found her idol early in the game and kept it a complete secret. She actually planted the Beware Advantage in another location and gleefully watched as the other contestants dug for hours upon hours, finding nothing. Jem thought she was safe with her girls’ alliance with Maria Shrime Gonzalez and Moriah Gaynor, but she was unaware of the closer bond Maria had with Charlie Davis, and she was ousted on Day 11.

The Yanu camp’s idol was discovered by Tiffany Nicole Ervin in the season premiere, and she held onto it until her blindside on Day 19. Tiffany’s game was upended post-merge after Q revealed to the rest of the castaways that she had found the idol, and so she falsely claimed she’d be using it to get the target off her back. Her fellow players, led by Maria, ultimately decided to put Tiffany’s words to the test, and they sent her packing with the idol in her pocket.

Randen. Hunter. Jem. Tiffany. Four players who all misplayed their idols. Is there indeed a curse for the “Survivor 46” cast? It looks like we could soon find out, as the “Next Time” promo reveals that the remaining seven contestants will start searching in the jungle for yet another hidden immunity idol in next week’s 11th episode, titled “My Messy, Sweet Little Friend.”
